Rant

Just lately I have been really struggling to understand why I repeatedly see so many girls wearing little, to no clothes on a daily basis, and even more so on nights out. I was told from a very young age, that the less you show, the more people will respect you. And I learnt as I got older, that the nice boys will wait to find out whats underneath, and will love that it is only for their eyes, not for the whole world to see. Maybe I am just bitter because these girls are clearly pretty and proud of their slim bodies, but personally I opt for a happy balance. By that I mean that I won't just cover myself from head to toe because I'm ashamed of myself, but I will maybe wear a high neck top/jumper, or a buttoned up shirt and then maybe shorts, or tight skinny jeans. On nights out, if I'm wearing massive heals, I will always wear jeans and a pretty top to go with it. If I'm wearing a skirt or shorts, I will usually just wear my brogue heals, which are quite small but give me a bit of height, or I will just wear some pretty flats, and dress it up with my clothes.
However, I do think it is nice to show a bit of skin sometimes, and wear something a little more sexy (I wish I could have explained myself there without using the world 'sexy'). I just simply hate seeing basically the whole of girls bum cheeks on a daily basis, and now apparently, a lot of side boob.
Anyway, this post makes me feel a little old and grumpy. But, as You Me At Six would say 'Save it for the bedroom' (I don't even like this band, but a few of my friends from Uni will be proud of me for quoting them)

Daughter

'Daughter' are such a good band, I have been listening to them a lot lately. This song is beautiful, it is called 'Love' and I really recommend anyone gives it a listen. 'Youth' and 'Smother' are also incredible songs by Daughter.

I can't afford new clothes at the moment, so I have been rummaging through my wardrobe to find older clothes that I can team with some of my favorite items of clothing, to make an outfit I've never warn before. Sooo I found this dark green lacey dress that I tucked in to my favorite denim shorts, and I will definitely be wearing this again soon. Both the dress and shorts are from Topshop, my belt is from H&M.

UPDATE -continuted

I also forgot to say in that last post that on Monday I was asked by my friend George to go and be a model for Tony & Guy, I got my make-up done by Mac for free, and then got my hair put up by a top stylist from London. The first hairstyle she did was slightly bizarre, but the second was an incredible beehive style, done to perfection. But yeah, that was fun!

UPDATE:

It is that odd time of year again when the excitement of summer is dwindling, and reality of life is beginning to hit again. It is about a month till I go back to Sheffield; back to living with my lovely friends, and back to working hard. The goal is a degree at the end of this year, if I could get a 2.1, that would be delightful. But before I think of the result, the reality of how hard third year is going to be is starting to hit...and I thought second year was draining.

But for now, summer continues, my job on the bar at Nottingham Forest is going well, and it is nice to finally be earning a bit of money. I have seen so much of my lovely friends at home, which has been amazing, and even though it can be challenging sometimes, it has been lovely to come back to home comforts, with my mum's cooking and my dad's funny ways (they do have other talents). I have also seen my beautiful sister quite a few times, and even went to the Olympics in London, which was amazing!

Olympics!

My day at the Olympics with my family started off wet and horrible, while we watched the women's Marathon, however, the atmosphere was still electric. But later that day, the rain stopped, the sun came out, and it was boiling! We went to Hyde park to 'London LIVE' which was set out like a festival, and there we sat on a picnic blanket surrounded by happy people, with drinks and Mr. Whippy's watching the Olympics, amazing!

 Random stuff

Went to Danny's hot tub party in his incredible garden. It felt like we were in America,  with his huge bar outside, hot tub, fairylights, numerous swing seats, a trampoline, and lots of grass and seating areas. Again, amazing.

Drinks with the girls- we have done this A LOT this summer, but this is just one pictures Tunney took the other day with her new Iphone, of me and Kayleigh. 

Goodbye best friend

Sooo, my best friend in the world, Evie, is off to Turkey in less than a month now, and she had a leaving party to say goodbye/21st birthday party. Her birthday isn't until November, but she won't be coming home for it, so this was our chance to celebrate! GOODBYE BEAUTIFUL.

My other friend Danielle is also sadly leaving us to start her new life in Holland (Amsterdam). She is off to Uni there, so will be gone for three years, but she assures me she will be back soon. She went yesterday, and it was horrible saying goodbye. She also had a leaving party, however I didn't get any pictures, but you're probably relieved as there is already far too many on this post aha!

Soooo, for anyone who has previously read my blog, apart from my clear love for Bon Iver, Florence and the Machine, holidays, friends, and family; another love of mine is shopping in charity shops. There are three amazing shops just 3minutes away from my house in the small Town I live in 20minutes away from the center of Nottingham. SO I am basically in them all the time looking for cheap treats for myself.

A while ago I got a new Jacket which was only £7 from Cancer Research UK (a charity that holds a special place in my heart, so getting new clothes and supporting them is a bonus).

Another recent charity shop purchase is my lovely new shoes. They were an amazing £3 from Mind!!!!

Olympics

WELLDONE GB, WE DID GOOD.
The Olympics opening ceremony was absolutely amazing, and once again I feel proud to be British. This song was just one of the highlights from the ceremony. 

Roll on two weeks of athletics, and not thinking 'what shall I watch tonight'

Tramlines- an incredible weekend!

Sooo this weekend I have been to Tramlines; a free festival with stages dotted around Sheffield city center, which over 150,000 people attended this year! It was honestly one of the best weekends I have had in so long, and I could not be happier.

I went with my two friends Aimee and Jen, and we arrived on Thursday evening at our beautiful new student house, ten minutes outside the city center in the studenty part of Sheffield. Thursday night was not very fun as I was preparing for my meeting with Rosalind Eve, a manager at Age UK who I will be making a number of videos for, for my dissertation, which is actually very exciting, and after my meeting on the Friday morning, I can not wait to get started in October!

Then on Friday afternoon the fun began; we got the know our house, wandered around Ecclesall Road where we are now living, and then spent the night getting very drunk, meeting new people, dancing, singing etcetc (the usual antics included in a night out). But overall the night was just very very fun. We eventually went to sleep at 5am, only to be woken up again at 8:30am by the glorious sunshine outside, which in hindsight, is not the worst way to be woken up. Around 1ish on Saturday we headed out in the sun to explore Tramlines, which did not disappoint. On Saturday night we headed out for another night out in Sheffield, which was again a really really good night out. We were again awoken by the beautiful sunshine on Sunday morning, and headed out again to explore more of Tramlines. We headed to a park 5minutes away from our house were the 'Folk Forrest' stage was situated, which was amazing. It felt like I was back at Glastonbury again with people scattered everywhere, lovely music blasting out, lots of drink, lots of bunting, lots of happy people, and clear blue skies. Oh, and the parks beautiful river and enchanted looking Forrest helped to make it my favorite part of Tramlines 2012. We then went in to the center again and watched Dog is Dead (a really good band from Nottingham, I seriously recommend giving them a listen), and then We Are Scientists, which brought this amazing free festival to an end.
